Mike has always been fascinated by the intersection of technology and human learning. For over two decades, he has designed and deployed digital learning programs for storied global brands. From early training modules in corporate headquarters to today’s mobile experiences, he tries to help organizations translate their heritage, stories, and perspectives into engaging, technology‑driven learning.

Inspired by AI's rapid progress and his own experiences, Mike delved into its potential to revolutionize learning, writing his first book on the subject, Assisting Intelligence. Coincidentally, training his golden retriever puppy, Mara, offered unique insights into this research. Both Mara and AI share a certain exuberance and a happenstance for mischief. Mike realized that unleashing AI without proper training or preparation in an organization would be akin to letting Mara loose in a classroom full of kids holding treats and paint supplies. AI, like puppies, requires guidance, training, and understanding to reach its full potential. Both require us to adapt our thinking, set clear boundaries, and recognize their unique capabilities.

Her arrival coincided with the beginning of a two-year odyssey to learn, and train, and write about AI. As she grows and explores the world, her experiences reflect the evolution of Assisting Intelligence—from initial sketches and research through numerous drafts and revisions to polished proof.
